Claude adds Dashboards and Motion beta features for live data and explainer videos

Anthropic launched two new beta features for Claude, according to The Decoder.
Dashboards connects data sources such as BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake or Salesforce and turns them into auto-updating live dashboards from a text prompt. Anthropic says every number shows its underlying query, and results can be piped into tools like Amplitude, Grafana or Hex.
Motion creates animated explainer videos from text, diagrams and images. The videos are editable as code and exportable as MP4.
Dashboards is available for paid users. Motion is available on Team and Enterprise plans.
Separately, Docs, Slides and Design are leaving beta and now work across all plans, including free accounts. Anthropic says more than 45 million documents have been created with these tools. The Decoder adds that this traction might be one reason Microsoft is reportedly cutting back on Claude usage; that link is the outlet's own hedged speculation.
The earlier announced Claude Design will be folded into the main app by December 14, and a migration guide is available.
Key facts
- Dashboards (beta) links sources like BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake or Salesforce and builds auto-updating live dashboards from a text prompt; each number shows its underlying query, per Anthropic.
- Motion (beta) makes animated explainer videos from text, diagrams and images, editable as code and exportable as MP4.
- Dashboards is available for paid users; Motion is available on Team and Enterprise plans.
- Docs, Slides and Design leave beta and now work across all plans, including free accounts; Anthropic says more than 45 million documents have been created with them.
- Claude Design will be folded into the main app by December 14, with a migration guide available.
Why it matters
Claude is moving beyond chat and documents into two new kinds of output: live, data-connected dashboards and animated video. Dashboards plugs straight into warehouse and CRM systems such as BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake and Salesforce, so a text prompt can produce something that keeps updating. At the same time Docs, Slides and Design graduate from beta to all plans, with Anthropic citing more than 45 million documents created. The Decoder speculates that this traction might be one reason Microsoft is reportedly cutting back on Claude usage, but that is the outlet's own hedged guess and no details of the cutback are given.
Who it affects
Paid Claude users can try Dashboards. Motion is limited to Team and Enterprise plans. Anyone on a free account now gets Docs, Slides and Design, since those leave beta and work across all plans. Teams that already use Claude Design should note it is being folded into the main app by December 14.
How to use it
For Dashboards, connect a data source such as BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake or Salesforce and describe the dashboard you want in a text prompt. Each number shows its underlying query, and results can be piped into tools like Amplitude, Grafana or Hex. For Motion, supply text, diagrams or images; the resulting explainer video can be edited as code and exported as MP4. Existing Claude Design users can follow the migration guide ahead of the December 14 move into the main app.
How solid is it
This is a report from The Decoder on Anthropic's launch, and it has not been checked against Anthropic's own announcement. The product descriptions are attributed to Anthropic in part (the query visibility, the piping into Amplitude, Grafana or Hex, and the 45 million figure). The source has no direct quotations, and it does not say whether the 45 million documents figure covers Docs, Slides and Design combined or over what period. The Microsoft link is speculation, hedged with "might" and "reportedly".
Risks and caveats
Both Dashboards and Motion are betas, so behavior may change. No pricing, usage limits or names of specific paid tiers are given beyond "paid users" for Dashboards and "Team and Enterprise" for Motion. No launch date is given for either feature, and the source does not say which model powers them. The year for the December 14 Claude Design deadline is not stated. No details on the reported Microsoft cutback (scale, products, timing) are given.
